Winter wilderness week
A winter adventure week with three nights out in the wilderness and lots of winter activities. Dogsledding, forest skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing and living in basic wilderness cabins.
Sunday, Arrival
We pick you up at the airport or train station in Kiruna or Gällivare and bring you to your cosy accommodation.
Monday, Dogsledding
Your adventure starts at our base in Moskojärvi, after an introduction to our dogs and a short theory lesson on dogsledding we help you to set up your own dogteam and we go out on a 10 km run.
Tuesday, Dogsledding
After a good breakfast, we pack the sleds with all we need for the next days. Together we get your dog team ready and head out into the wild. After 20 km we arrive at the wilderness hut. The hut doesn’t have running water or electricity (also no Wi-Fi 😉), so everybody helps getting water from the lake, making fire, and taking care of the dogs. Enjoy a good meal and a sauna in the evening.
Wednesday, forest skiing/snowshoeing
After we took care of the dogs it’s time to check out the area around the cabin. On skis or snowshoes we explore the wildlife and old forest of Puolva Nature Reserve. Following an active day outdoors we return to our wilderness hut, take care of the dogs, enjoy dinner, and relax in the sauna.
Thursday, dogsledding
In the morning we pack the sleds, get the dogs ready and head out on the trail again. We travel over frozen lakes and through snow covered forests towards Onkijärvi Wilderness hut. Also, here we will not have electricity or running water.
Friday, dogsledding
We head back home with the dogs today. Once more you can feel the rhythm of your team gliding through the snowcovered landscape.
Saturday, ice fishing
Today it’s ice fishing day. In the lake right next to our cabin we fish for pike, perch, and grayling. If you’re lucky it is fish on today’s menu.
Sunday, departure
